I Love You In My Shoes

I don’t get as many Mommy and me days with Granuaile now that she is going to school three days a week.  And even on the Mommy and me days, I’ve been so busy with writing assignments that I don’t get to spend the kind of quality time with her that I could before.  Jim was kind enough to do a lot of the washing and drying on Sunday, so while I do have a pile of clothes to fold, I took the opportunity to spend the day with Granuaile.  We watched some kids’ shows, we played a few games, and we went on the potty – ALL DAY!!  No accidents!!  She wore big girl panties all day long and successfully went on the potty 🙂

Anyway, at one point, we were sitting on the computer playing a game, and she hugged me and said, “I love you…in my shoes!”  Now, I don’t know if that’s the same as saying I love you from my head to my toes or I love you when you have my shoes on your feet.  But it was funny and cute, and the hug was certainly a beautiful thing.

I love that she is getting potty trained, but it’s so hard to go through these things for the last time with my last baby 🙁  I think that may be part of the reason it’s come so slowly.  I haven’t been as motivated to see Granuaile hit all the milestones as I was before, because I won’t ever get to enjoy them again with another one of our children.  So woohoo for not having to worry about diapers, but there’s still the sadness of watching your baby grow up 🙁

  1. You are home to watch them and be with them. That must be an enoroums benefit to your family and a huge sacrafice at the same time. Thank you so much for all that you do and the enormous effort you put in to being a great mother.
