Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses – Ummm, okay

I love pumpkin, and everything pumpkin flavored.  Pumpkin pie is my favorite.  Pumpkin bread is my favorite.  Pumpkin body spray is my favorite.  I love fall and look forward to fall, mostly because it’s okay to be passionate about pumpkins once the leaves turn colors.  But passionate may not be the right word here.

These oddly colored orange kisses look cute in my fall candy container, and add a nice bit of autumn to the buffet the container sits on.  But the taste is a bit odd.  I get the pumpkin spice, but it’s surrounded by a faux white chocolate sort of taste.  You know those white chocolate bunnies that you get for .50 at the drug store after Easter?  Yeah, it’s like that sort of a chocolate taste.

If you LOVE pumpkin, these might be worth a try, just to get a flavor reminiscent of a pumpkin pie when it’s inappropriate to inhale a whole pie on your own.  But don’t expect to be in love.  They are merely an emergency substitute for the real thing.

You Know Those Songs?

The ones sung by Billy Joel and R.E.M. where they sing really, really fast?  The words kind of all run together, and you can barely understand them because they are moving so quickly?

That, for me, is Wednesday.

When you look at your daily calendar, and notice that unless you get up when the bakers are going in to make the doughnuts and the newspaper guys are picking up their papers to deliver them by the time the normal people wake up at 6 AM, you do not have time in your day to shower, pee, or sneeze, it’s going to be a whirlwind of a day.

Wednesday.  Formerly known as Hump Day.  Now known as What the Hell Was I thinking to book all this day.

My week filled up really quickly with a last minute decision for me to go back to school – just one class, but one I am going to struggle with all semester.  I had already committed to teaching a class at the kids’ school; finishing out my year on the Moms Panel; room mom for one class; library aid for another; lunch room duty on two days.  Then I added in the girls’ after school activities.  Cheerleading; Junior Girl Scouts; Daisy Girl Scouts; dance classes at two different times; and play practice.

Wednesdays are the worst.  I drop the kids off at 8.  I have to be in school at 11.  I teach at just after 1:30. I pick the girls up at 2:45.  I have to be at the Daisy meeting at 6:45.  And then I get home about 8:45.  There is a period of about 2 hours after school – between when I’m home and have to be at the meeting when I can make dinner.  Pee.  Sneeze.  Do my homework.  Do the kids’ homework.

Wednesdays.  If you find me blogging on Wednesdays in the future, you’ll know it’s because I have been driven to drink by this overwhelming schedule, and am on house arrest for the drunken rampage I went on as a result.  I will have sprayed Mickey Mouse heads on every house in my neighborhood, and run up and down the street pointing and yelling, “HIDDEN MICKEY!!!”  We all know that Disney is my happy place.  That’s where I’ll want to be on Wednesdays.
