Returning for the second time to the Forrest Theater in Philadelphia, Jersey Boys lives up to the hype you’ve heard. I was a generation too late to appreciate the sounds of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, but I knew every word to every song, and it’s all you can do to keep yourself from getting up and dancing.
The story behind the music, though, is one I had never heard, and is both heartbreaking and a true triumph over tragedy story. From the stages of the hole in the wall Jersey clubs where they had their beginnings, as they skyrocketed to stardom, you’ll follow their journey through the “four seasons” of their amazing career.
I could have been crying in one minute, and be-bopping out of my seat the next. The music is phenomenal, acting spot on, and the story intriguing. This is certainly one Jersey girl who has a whole new appreciation for the Jersey Boys.
Catch them until January 5th. For tickets and information, visit http://www.philadelphia-theater.com/theaters/forrest-theater/jersey-boys.php
