Election day. I have to tell you, I haven’t always voted. I’m not a republican; I’m not a democrat; and I’ve always felt that without affiliating with at least one of those not so exclusive clubs, my best interests are never really represented. I know the person I vote for in the presidential election won’t win, and in local elections, I almost never have a third option.
But I vote now. The older I get, the more I feel like I have to at least have to speak, even if I’m not going to be heard (that makes me a crotchety old lady, doesn’t it? UGH). I’m hoping that someday, more people will feel like their opinion matters, even if it’s not the popular opinion.
So I am thankful today that I live in a country that gives me the chance to speak. Even if they don’t listen.
